New to Create Your Good Life? Start Here!

Hi, I’m Matt and Create Your Good Life is my blog. Ever since I was a teenager I have been passionate about the environment and living lightly within it. Along with my interest in the environment came a passion for gardening and wild food.

In 1996 I moved to the United Kingdom where I was exposed to heroes of mine such as Hugh Fearney-Whittingstall of River Cottage fame who lived a lifestyle of growing your own produce as much as possible, or at very least knowing where your food comes from.

When I returned to Australia in 2005 I began an ongoing project of creating my own Good Life in my suburban backyard. It fits in between raising a family and running a business, so it certainly doesn’t run perfectly, and if you check out some of my photos you can see that often the weeds are running wild. But in amongst it all I mange to experiment with many things including growing vegetables, soft fruit and fruit trees, keeping chickens, building and using wood fired ovens, and making my own beer and wine. So if that sounds like your sort of thing, join me at, and either subscribe to my newsletter, “Like” my page on Facebook or follow me on Twitter. Oh and be sure to check back often to keep up on my latest “How To’s” and tips.
